Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the analysis of business processes, job functions, systems and data as part of projects within the business transformation and integration programme the Business Analyst position is a key contributor to group success. The role incorporates stakeholder management, requirement gathering and hands-on analysis with the delivery of process improvement and development of high level designs.

The primary purpose of this position is to analyse work packages within complex business change projects (with a large systems/systems integration element) with adherence to company and industry best practise methodology, and to present back comprehensive findings and improvement initiatives. The role will involve gathering business requirements, hands-on analysis (data & function), ETL (extract, transform and load) legacy data, stakeholder management and oversee implementation and training. Activities range from development of and migration to our target systems including both COTS systems and bespoke internally developed systems.

Working with our business architect and development teams the Business Analyst will be responsible for defining how business processes are delivered by our core systems (e.g. ServiceNow, SAGE, Affinity), and bespoke internally developed systems.

The role will work closely with other members of the Transformation Team including Project Managers and other Business/Technical Analysts/Developers to ensure successful programme delivery.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Working within a team and taking a key analyst role, being accountable for a number of work packages, leading to the successful delivery of the project.
  • Create a clear project mandate with a problem statement, impact analysis, identified stakeholders and project plan.
  • Requirement elicitation from stakeholders, requirements analysis & validation.
  • Analyse & breakdown (function & data) of existing legacy systems including the use of various tools to analyse & compare the data.
  • Design migration from legacy to target models, including detailed mapping (function & data).
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Define, oversee & assist implementation (UAT, training, post-go live support)
  • Identify opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and/or non-system changes; assists in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes.
  • Ensure and assist in the following of good practice software/systems development and implementation.
  • Creates detailed Business Requirement Document (BRD) and translate it into functional/system specifications.
  • Performs feasibility analysis, clearly defines scope and works with product owner to prioritise system deliverables.
Required Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Attitude)

  • Experience of an analytical role within migration or integration projects, ideally relating to the consolidation of multiple business’ and systems.
  • Self-starter who can to take charge of or facilitate requirement-gathering sessions
  • Desire and ability to work in a very fast moving and demanding environment
  • Excellent planning, organisational and presentation skills
  • Focus on quality and detail with ability to identify gaps and join the dots.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders. Establish respect and credibility with other team members, peers and senior stakeholders.
  • Evidence of having delivered at all stages of a change lifecycle and has worked within a business transformation environment
  • Experience in owning a business case, proving benefits realisation, and presenting these to secure benefit lock with all relevant stakeholders
  • Practical application of business and systems analysis skills.
  • Ability to quickly develop a technical understanding of systems being analysed and how it affects the user.
  • Data modelling and data migration (mapping, extracting, converting and loading).
  • Business process mapping, modelling and improvement.
  • Excellent and innovative problem solving skills applying appropriate analysis methods and techniques.
  • The ability to test and challenge current thinking and to push through the implementation of strategic new approaches
  • Software and systems development methodologies and the appropriate application of these methodologies to projects.
  • Has and can demonstrate working with software suppliers.
  • Knowledge and experience of CRM, ServiceNow, Affinity, Database, Scripting and Sage systems would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of formal analysis methodologies, for example UML, Use Cases, SSADM is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL v3, Agile and/or Prince2 / waterfall project management methodologies advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience in the IT Services and/or telecoms industry advantageous.
