Purpose of job
An opportunity has arisen in our Banking department for a mid to senior level associate to work alongside its five partners and existing team of associates, with some of BLP’s largest and high profile clients.

In particular, the opportunity offers the successful candidate to run transactions with autonomy and would suit either a Senior Associate (or equivalent) who has a successful track record of doing so or an Associate who is at the stage in their career where they are looking to take ownership of running transactions.

Key responsibilities

Ownership of key transactional mandates.
Advising clients on: o Banking and finance transactions;o Acting on behalf of both borrowers and lenders, including corporate lenders, financial institutions and private equity houses, including general corporate banking facilities;o Leveraged acquisitions, refinance and restructurings (both solvent and insolvent); o Asset based lending/trade finance; ando Margin lending
Managing multiple matters across a range of different types of transactions, including plain vanilla transactions either as supervised by a partner or as part of a transactional team.
Advising on complex, cross departmental and multi-jurisdictional mandates.

Key relationships Banking team and wider Finance department.
Experience and knowledge
The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership and run with key transactional mandates. In addition they will have experience in a wide range of banking and finance transactions, acting on behalf of both borrowers and lenders (corporate lenders, financial institutions and private equity houses), including general corporate banking facilities, leveraged acquisitions, refinance and restructurings (both solvent and insolvent), margin lending and, ideally (although not essential), asset based lending/trade finance.

Able to deal across multiple sectors, either individually and independently on plain vanilla transactions (although always supervised, mentored and coached by a partner) or as part of a transactional team on more complex, often cross departmental and on multi-jurisdictional mandates.
