Senior Software Engineer (Platform Services)

Design and build core software infrastructure to help every UK household save time and money.

What gets us out of bed each morning is the opportunity to use technology to make customers’ lives even easier.

Is this you?

Creating and promoting the environment for realising Continuous Delivery, where change can be delivered to the hands of customers as quickly as possible with the lowest risk to service, will be what makes you tick.

You display a focus on performance and reliability alongside great breadth and specific depth of technical skills, especially in our stack; JavaScript, NodeJS, Docker and Linux. You’ll have deep knowledge of Microservices or SOA and be passionate about REST. You’ll have the mental agility to become expert in new technologies in a proactive fashion and you’ll thrive on contributing to our culture of innovation, enthusiasm and passion.

What will it take?

A desire for accountability and responsibility as well as the temperament to thrive under pressure will be part of your DNA. You’ll become the champion for creating critical services and a scalable, reliable and performant platform for Product Teams to operate their business services upon. You will use a mix of commercial and technical pragmatism to pick the most appropriate tool to solve a wide range of varied problems and spot opportunities to derive competitive advantage from the clever use of technology. You will have experience working in a high transaction volume online business where downtime is not tolerated.

What to expect

Reporting to the Lead Platform Engineer you’ll be responsible for building, running and owning the platform that comparethemarket.com runs its entire operation on, mixed with designing, engineering and operating performance critical services on that platform.

Evangelising the approaches and tooling that exist as part of the CTM Platform to the wider CTM community and external user groups, including curating and contributing to community open source initiatives.
