About the role

To lead the Queenborough site to achieve health, safety environmental compliance. The role holder will sit on our senior leadership team for the site and will also lead a small team of EHS professionals.

This role will see the role holder scope and lead our EHS strategy, the role will be critical to reinforcing health and safety is a culture not a department. The role will report jointly into the site director and also the quality and compliance director, giving access to influence both at a site and board level. The four main strategic goals for this role are;

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive EHS management system based upon ISO standards and industry best practice.
- Manage all environmental, health & safety risks/opportunities and clearly communicate solutions to the Site Leadership Team.
- Convince people to improve their methods and beliefs through education, motivation and leadership.
- Achieve demonstrable year on year improvements in environmental, health & safety management performance.

Being the point of contact for such regulatory bodies as the environment agency, HSE and local authorities this role requires somebody with excellent communication skills.

About you

We are looking for a candidate that has the following;

- COMAH experience ideally from working on Pharmaceutical/ Chemical sites.
- Prior knowledge of safety management systems and process industry experience
- Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g. managing varied interests representing potential conflicts.
- Ability to lead and support cross-functional EHS teams.
- Proven experience of leading cultural change that has driven EHS performance improvements.
- Considerable experience with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training.
- Degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or equivalent.
