JOB: UK COMMUNICATION, PR ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR / MANAGER: UK & IRELAND (Pharmaceutical, Medical, Healthcare)

Interim 12-Month Contract - Jan 2018 Start Date

LOCATION: Head Office Based: BUCKINGHAMSHIRE / BERKSHIRE

SALARY: Self-Employed - Competitive Daily Rate

ROLE:

This is a broad and varied role where you will be an active member of the UK & Ireland Leadership Team. In this strategic role, you will havefive defined streams of responsibility:

- Acting as Public Relations Counsel for UK & Ireland - Working closely with International colleagues inc Communications, PR and Corporate Communications
- Presenting at Senior Leadership meetings re: communications and public relations initiatives
- Providing media training for UK & Ireland based team members
- Monitoring competitor PR activity and sharing intelligence with appropriate personnel

- Creation, Implementation and Refinement of External PR Campaigns - Development of National corporate communication plan with leadership team
- Act as point of contact for external agencies and act as press office contact
- Refinement of any existing campaigns to maximise impact with target areas
- Creation of measurement tools re: in-house and agency led campaigns to monitor performance
- Management of media-led issues to minimise impact on the business

- Patient Advocacy/Key Stakeholder Relations - Engage with key customers in-line with agreed business plans
- Initiate, develop and maintain relationships, conduct audits to create relevant engagement programmes and disease awareness campaigns

- Internal Communications - Development and maintenance of internal communications strategy and plans
- Maintenance of all materials and corporate websites to ensure current and compliant content
- Responsibility for communications with UK and Ireland employees - including employee engagement

- Agency Management - Agree schemes of work and all agreed timescales with external agencies
- Manage budget and spend per outsourced piece of work
- Track success of all campaigns - internal and external

ESSENTIAL ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

- Proven knowledge and experience of communication within the pharmaceutical / healthcare industry in the UK and / or Ireland. This may have been gained via in-house communications or public relations roles or from extensive PR agency experience - the Client is open to profiles from in-house and external agencies (both will be treated equally
- Science qualification and / or journalism degree (Bachelor level or above)
- Good knowledge of the UK and / or the Irish codes of practice for the pharmaceutical and medical device industries

PERSONAL SKILLS:

- Demonstrable excellence in strategic public relations, employee communications and in strategic communications planning. Ideally this will be for high-profile pharmaceutical brands with strong competitors and / or for strategic launches for a healthcare organisation
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Strong inter-personal, motivational, and influencing skills
- Self-starter able to operate effectively within a matrix organisation
- Excels in a fast paced and dynamic environment; calm under pressure
