Job Overview:

We have an immediate opening for a member of a growing team working on the Certara global network and services.This Systems Administrator role is intended as the primary support interface between users and the IT infrastructure and service team for the Sheffield Certara office and European sites. This includes the day-to-day support of users, routine maintenance, problem escalation and supporting the project team in further development of our network, client machines and servers. The role requires close awareness of and liaison with the rest of the Certara global IT team, so good interpersonal skills are essential.

Experience working in a Microsoft-centric (Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, IIS, VMWare), network, and production business environment as part of a wider IT team

Experience of installing, managing and troubleshooting Windows clients (XP/Vista/7) in an AD/GP domain environment (eg: Event Viewer, perfmon, msconfig, gpresult, etc...).

Some understanding of TCP/IP networks (eg: DHCP, DNS) and their troubleshooting on Windows clients (ipconfig, ping, route, etc.)

Educated to degree level or equivalent

Interest and willingness to develop and experience of many facets of network management and IT support


Willingness to undertake occasional overseas travel

Key responsibilities:

Deliver a high-quality IT service, based on Certara standards for IT service delivery within SLAs and as dictated by business need accepting the nature of 24/7/365 IT systems

Day to day management of user queries, hardware, software and other technical issues as well as end user education/training.

Setup, tracking, assignment and preparation of computer devices for end-users and Simcyp Workshops including OS and application installation.

Accomplish daily tasks as directed through the helpdesk system.

Works under general supervision of one or more senior systems administrators
