Linux Software Architect (Team Lead) - Manchester. My client based near Manchester is currently looking for a skilled Linux Software Architect. Due to our clients continued growth, their Development Team in Manchester will be going through a period of expansion. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and will be our client's technical subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and support to the development team. You will be growing the Linux team and ensuring all projects are completed to timescales and budgets. Responsibilities: * Lead the design and the development of a new Linux product offering. * Act as a technical expert for your area of responsibility. * Research, prototype and on board new technologies if they can bring us a competitive edge. * Identify emerging and upcoming technical developments liaising with the architecture community of practice to identify those that may benefit future product development. * Use agile tools and techniques to play a full part in all aspects of the software development life-cycle. * Manage non-functional requirements, architecture definition, technology selection, and architecture evaluation. * Work with the rest of the team to identify areas of process and tooling that can improve code quality and delivery. Skills and Experience: Linux system programming in C/C++ Shell scripting Mentoring, supporting and guiding a team within all technical aspects Excellent interpersonal skills OO design Writing multithreaded software Experience in advanced debugging techniques Designing for performance, security & stability Desirable Education &Experience Knowledge of Agile methodologies Unit testing Unix systems Linux kernel level experience and developing drivers An understanding of Linux system administration in an enterprise environment.
