As part of our continued growth, we have a new role for Solutions Architect to join our Corporate & Mid Market division.

The key focus of the role is to provide technical solutions to new & existing clients, with a particular emphasis on IP Networking and ISP technologies.

Responsible for actively driving and managing the requirements gathering and high level design process, working with a range of business clients you will describe Zen’s technology and product portfolio positioning to both commercial and technical users.

Using business process and analysis skills you will build a set of requirements in consultation with the customer. You'll then work closely with with engineers and operational teams to produce a high level design with enough hands on ability to articulate technical requirements to build and installation engineers.

It goes without saying that you documentation will be to a high standard, as will your communication skills. Being able to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience is a key aspect of the role, together with an understanding of business needs and pressures in a commercial setting.

Because the technology arena is so fast moving, having the skills to learn and being open to new ideas is really important, as is your ability to demonstrate your adaptability and ability to learn in your career so far. We will support you with an excellent internal Learning and Development team, a personalised development plan and funding for external training and events.

Candidate Profile

  • Significant previous experience of requirements gathering and solution design in a commercial setting
  • Able to show and discuss a range of previous customer solution designs
  • Confident presenting in a formal setting and be able to chair and take the lead in customer meetings when required
  • Able to build strong relationships with engineers, sales teams and a diverse portfolio of clients
  • Excited by technology and with a drive to do the right thing by the customer
  • An ability to get ‘hands-on’ with technology when required
  • Full drivers licence and willingness to travel through sales territory
  • Technical Skills

    We have invested in a new generation of network technologies with our principal technology partner Huaweii. Part of this investment is in expanding our access network in BT exchanges to make us the 5th largest carrier in the UK. The technology we are deploying offers great potential for the future and we are keen to find a candidate who can offer solutions across the network, from the access network to the core. This includes the emerging technologies of Software Defined Network (SDN) and SD-WAN.

    Ideally you'll be familiar at a professional level with one or more of the following technologies and be able to understand the theory of operation, practical applications and integration requirements for each. Hands-on experience implementing solutions using these technologies is desirable.


  • IP v4 and IP v6 network design theory and practice
  • IP protocols e.g. TCP, UDP, ICMP
  • Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF
  • IP Quality of service (QOS)
  • Techniques for resilient network design
  • ISP Services

  • RADIUS platforms and subscriber management
  • BNG services
  • Experience working with key UK carriers and a familiarity with their services
  • Provisioning platforms e.g. Cisco Prime, TR69
  • VPN

  • MPLS customer and infrastructure deployments
  • IPSEC & SSL VPN connectivity
  • SD-WAN – exposure to overlay services and key vendor technologies
  • Ethernet

  • Ethernet applications in LAN and WAN settings
