Our clients business was founded in 1993 and is recognised as being one of the UK market leaders in underwriting SME Commercial & Liability business. They employ highly experienced staff dealing with over 1000 brokers throughout the UK.

Essential Experience

The ideal candidate should have strong technical background and coding skills with VB.NET or C# and ASP.NET. Experience with XML, XSLT, XPath, XSD & WCF/Web Services is a definite plus. Experience working in an agile development environment is desirable but not required. Knowledge and experience in insurance industry and systems integration is definite advantage.

Skills / Attributes Required

- Hands-on experience in multiple web technologies, including but not limited to: .NET/C#, VB and SQL.

- Hands-on experience with application of design patterns.

- Demonstrable Software Development experience & problem Solving and analysis.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment.

- Ability to handle several projects simultaneously.

- Good fundamental and hands-on knowledge of with MS SQL Server.

- Software development experience (non-academic) with demonstrable experience and fundamental understanding of the.NET Framework including C#/VB.NET, XML, web services, data structures and collections, caching, configuration, etc.

- Experience designing and implementing dynamic, personalised, database-driven, large-scale, high-volume commercial web services and integration systems.

- Understanding of the application development process, including compilation/building, coding standards, and source control

Duties and Responsibilities

- Responsible for writing and coding individual programmes from specific requirements.

- Interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents.

- Perform coding to written technical specifications.

- Investigate, analyse and document reported defects.

- Perform maintenance programming and correction of identified defects.

- Create, document, and implement unit test plans, scripts, and test harnesses.

- Performs related duties as assigned
