Job Overview:

The successful candidate will be a member of the technical team responsible for FIS infrastructure in a dynamic 24/7/365 production data centre environment. This role requires broad and deep technology knowledge, excellent organizational and communication skills with a commitment to excellence.

Business Overview:

Within our Trading and Connectivity product and Risk and Compliance product ranges based in our office in Oxfordshire, Abingdon, you will be a System Engineer working within the Infrastructure team covering the Windows and Linux based businesses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, document and maintain Windows & Linux operating systems, applications, VMware ESX
  • Provide performance tuning, capacity planning, automation and documentation for systems and applications
  • Collaborate as a knowledge leader in the specification, design and deployment of Windows infrastructure
  • Follow up with Security teams on new requirements and apply them
  • Develop knowledge on hardware requirements for application set up
  • Support developers, database administrators, service providers and data centre operations staff
  • Perform SQL Server installation and Maintenance activities
  • Perform back up, file replications and script management for servers
  • Test and apply new software and maintenance patches, including patch management services
  • Complete security audits on a routine basis
  • Administrative scripting
  • Monitoring and maintenance of servers
  • Manage datacentre environment, delivery and installation of new hardware
  • Off-shift work with rotating on-call coverage

Essential Experience Required;

  • Proven work experience related to Systems
  • Past experience of working in a production environment

Desirable Experience Required;

  • Past experience of working in a multi tenanted service provision environment

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong Windows server expertise
  • Strong Linux knowledge (RedHat)
  • Virtualisation (VMware)
  • Citrix Knowledge (Xenapp)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Administrative activities
  • Fluent English speaking/writing
  • Hardware knowledge (SAN/Servers/Chassis)
