The Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within our Health and Safety team for an Interim H&S Manager for 12 months

The purpose of the role is:

  • Ensure the company complies with Health and Safety and Fire Safety legislation
  • Carry out and review risk assessments and develop safe systems of work to ensure colleagues can work in a safe manner and identify via that process how improvements can be implemented
  • To work proactively with field management to develop systems that promote a culture of safety across the organisation
  • Develop a training programme that ensures all colleagues are competent to carry out their allotted tasks from a safety perspective
Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure the company’s Health and Safety policy is implemented consistently across the organisation
  • Constantly review, test and update company health and safety polices, risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Develop an effective and accessible health and safety training strategy
  • Provide specialist advice and recommendations on all health and safety and fire safety matters to field management
  • To maintain effective liaison with all function Heads and senior managers of the business to ensure health and safety attains and retains a high profile
  • To maintain up to date knowledge of health and safety and fire safety legislation to ensure the requirements of that legislation is fully met
  • Ensure health and safety and fire safety issues are given due consideration in planning store layouts and equipment
  • To maintain accident statistics and undertake investigations of any serious accidents and breaches of health and safety polices
