We are hiring a Release Manager to support a major UK Government programme from our location in central London.

Leidos is developing its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) presence significantly in the UK. It has ambitions to bid for, win and execute a number of major UK Government ICT programmes. A key element of these programmes will involve the management of ICT operations in existing customer estates (including third-party services) and the introduction of a Leidos managed and delivered environment / ICT enterprise; including the design, transition and operations of new services.


The Release Manager is accountable for the process to deploy and implement releases and is responsible for managing compliance and identifying improvements to ensure that the process continues to be effective and efficient.

As a Release Manager within a SIAM team (Service Integration and Management), the key ingredient to success is winning the hearts and minds of the Supplier Release Managers and IT staff. Leading by example and fulfilling the SIAM activities in line with the agreed policies, processes and procedures is critical to maintain credibility.

The Release Manager is expected to have a good knowledge of how the Release and Deployment Management processes integrates and interacts with other ITIL processes. They are accountable for the process to deploy and implement releases and responsible for managing compliance.

Key Responsibilities include:

Manage Release and Deployment Management Process

  • Reviews, validates and approves Release & Deployment plans submitted by the Suppliers before submitted to RAB and CAB
  • Chairs the Release Advisory Board (RAB), reviews and approves releases
  • Chairs meetings with suppliers regarding change windows, assists with Suppliers cross tower impacts, technical queries and dependencies of their Releases (but final go no go decision is with the Customer with Suppliers technical input)
  • Check Technical Implementation Plans, Release Notes, Testing Completion Reports etc.
  • Ensure that there is a full audit trail of the Release Plan, Build, Test and Pre-Production environments through to deploy and implementation phase.
  • Governance and Assurance

  • Ensure the Process and Governance is effective and being followed by Suppliers
  • Reviews and /or raises remedial actions to Suppliers who are non-compliant
  • Ensures Post Implementation Reviews (PIR’s) are performed and documented
  • Service (Process) Improvements (SI’s)
    • Reviews all process improvement suggestions with the Release Process Leads
    • Recommends SI changes to achieve a better quality of service and delivery of Release and Deployment process
    Manage Escalations
    • Acting as an escalation point for the other Process Managers and Process Leads
    Process Training and Awareness
    • Deliver relevant process training to SIAM and Suppliers
    Required Skills:

  • Strong track record in IT Service Management
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Experience handling difficult conversations
  • Ability to chair and manage governance meetings with senior staff
  • Holds people accountable for their commitments
  • Ability to drive remedial actions and service improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written communication through the use of e-mail & formal reports
  • Builds strong professional relationships with ability to get buy-in to Release Management
  • Ability to work in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop and recommend solutions for problems/issues
  • Experience navigating red tape
  • Desired Skills:
    • Experience working in the Public sector would be beneficial
    • Experience using BMC Remedy for ITSM processes
    • IT Support background
    • Previous experience in a Tower model or managed multiple suppliers
    • Knowledge or experience of SIAM

    Typical Minimum Education & Experience:

  • ITIL Foundation Certified
  • Previous experience as a Process Owner
  • SME knowledge of one or more of the ITIL processes
