To provide efficient and effective technical support to the School’s administration and curriculum systems.

The Department:

We are looking for someone to join the IT Support team at an exciting time as we deploy and develop our use of mobile technology in the classroom and to further develop the use of technology from both an administrative and teaching & learning perspective. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work on a network which includes over 1,000 devices, 50 HP Switches, 10Gb backbones, 110 node managed wireless system, HP Storage systems, VMWARE Virtualisation and the very latest technologies.

The Opportunity

The post offered is that of Senior IT Technician within the IT Support Department.

A key element of the role will be the provision of high quality 1st and 2nd line support to colleagues across both our Senior and Junior sites using our helpdesk software to record, manage and track the requests you receive. The nature of the team means that the successful candidate will be able to, and will be expected to, gain experience of all of the systems supported on site. Additionally, the role will involve a specific responsibility for supporting and assisting in the development of key technology solutions. As well as providing user support the successful candidate will need to be able to identify opportunities to improve existing processes and to work alongside end users to manage configuration and to create workflows.

A Comprehensive training package is also offered as part of the role with funded training course in Microsoft or Networking accreditation dependent on the candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead expert / coordinator in specific key service areas such as Firefly, Office 365, printing, etc. These will include assistance of design, implement, troubleshoot, analyse and maintain phases
  • To investigate reported software failure and to take the appropriate action to rectify the problem.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of any ongoing or new IT projects
  • To complete minor repairs to equipment and cabling where the fault is obvious; to provide on-the-spot advice to other members of staff regarding such matters, to ensure maximum availability and usage of equipment.
  • To provide in-class support to teaching staff using the IT suites or other IT equipment.
  • To set up new items of hardware and install new software packages.
  • To maintain an inventory of equipment.
  • Disseminate best practice and knowledge amongst the team and ensure helpdesk/system documentation is adequately recorded in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • To provide Firefly and Office 365 support for teaching and support staff
  • To help develop and support IT projects within the school.
  • To attend, as required, promotional events of the school including Open Morning.
  • To follow all school procedures, e.g. Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities.
  • To undertake personal professional development and respond to the changing needs of the job.
