Hurst Media Company, an independent publisher which specialises in contract publishing, is seeking an enthusiastic Editorial Assistant to get involved with our portfolio of titles.

The Editorial Assistant will be primarily involved with Celebrity Secrets – our flagship title which goes out in OK! magazine bumper packs.

They will be expected to get involved with research for features, write and upload content to a WordPress CMS, manage our social media channels, source celebrity pictures and represent the brand at events.

There will also be opportunity to write for the print title, subedit finished pages and be involved with the planning of celebrity photoshoots.

In addition, the Editorial Assistant will also be expected to write and contribute to our portfolio of titles which are distributed with the national press, including The Countryside Experience and Arts, Antiques & Collectibles, both of which go out with The Telegraph.

Other duties will include general office administration, ad-hoc commercial writing and occasional data entry. There is also the opportunity to get involved with the production side of the business by sending specs to advertisers and making sure they meet deadlines.

This the perfect role to kick-start your media career, and while no formal journalistic experience is required, ideally you will have completed a selection of work placements and have a degree in a relevant subject from a good university.

We are looking for an energetic, driven individual with a passion to pursue a career in this sector. Candidates are expected to be familiar with our titles and the celebrity lifestyle magazine sector in general.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Ideally you will have a Journalism degree or a degree in a relevant subject
  • Experience working in a publishing environment
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
  • Know your way around a WordPress CMS
  • Strong grasp of grammar and confident to edit copy accordingly
  • Confident, outgoing personality.
