We are looking to recruit a Senior Associate who will play an active role in the continued growth and success of the Real Estate and Construction teams. Based in our Manchester office our new Senior Associate will have the opportunity to develop a practice with our clients across the north of England . The national Construction team acts for local and national private developers, large national and international corporates, contractors, construction professionals, public sector organisations and education sector institutions. The team is also increasingly winning and servicing work in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

The Role

The role will involve taking over an existing caseload and we anticipate that the right individual will, in time, be able to develop their own local team to support them. Our construction teams in Bristol, London and Newcastle will be available to provide technical and business development support to our new Senior Associate.

This role will suit an ambitious and determined individual who enjoys and takes pride in providing the highest standards of client care and champions operational excellence. Personality fit is essential within this team as the role will also involve close liaison with our Manchester Real Estate team as well as our Commercial teams in Leeds and Manchester.

We are looking for someone who is personable and is a team player with a can-do attitude. You will readily take on day to day conduct of construction aspects of real estate and commercial transactions, managing key client relationships and business development activity.

We anticipate that the successful candidate may spend 1 or 2 days a month in our Leeds office as part of their internal business development role.

Key skills

-Qualified solicitor (6 years PQE+ at a national firm or major regional practice) with extensive experience and strong technical ability across a variety of non-contentious construction and engineering matters.

-Strong knowledge of the North West development/construction market with an established network of contacts.

-Specific residential development sector knowledge/experience desirable, but not essential.

-Excellent relationship and client handling skills, commensurate with experience. Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day to day issues.

-Able to demonstrate a high level of self-sufficiency, combined with an awareness of the boundaries of own competence/authority.

-Share, support and advocate the firm's purpose, vision and cultural principles.

-Confident and effective communicator. Strong analytical and organisational skills, results driven and pragmatic.

-Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure.

-Change oriented with a positive, flexible approach towards the implementation of new initiatives.

-Team oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.

Real Estate - Construction Team

Our Real Estate Team covers every aspect of commercial real estate work including planning and environmental, development, investment, asset management, funding, construction, landlord and tenant and dispute resolution. Clients include property management and development companies, health trusts and government bodies (local and central), owner occupiers and institutions, both in the UK and overseas.

Our construction team plays an integral role in supporting our clients in every aspect of property development from planning through procurement, project funding and ultimately disposals.

An expanding client list and increasing workloads means new team members are needed to play an essential, valued role in delivering the time-critical, high quality service expected by our clients.
