A very import part of Lincolnshire?s behind the scenes services, ensure that our drainage ways remain clear to protect us from flooding. Keep our pumping stations working and help protect the animals and plants around our flood defences. It is this busy team that are looking for a GIS and Environment Technician.
The area covered by this Drainage Board includes, parts of Boston, Sleaford, Bourne and Pinchbeck.
As the GIS technician you will be collecting data collected by the men on the ground who work the areas and clear the dykes and actually see what/ who is living where and the impact it is making to the environment. For example, if a Drainage Operator sees an Otter, the operator will log where it was sighted and pass that information to you, to Map. Lincolnshire?s Drains have a wealth of creatures living in and around them and the Board operate a policy to help protect them whist protecting us from Flood.
Duties of the job will include but not limited to:
- Manage GIS and producing maps
- Manage the environment budget
- Conserve / enhance the environment
- Design and deliver training courses for employees
- Project Management i.e catchment studies
This can be a physically demanding job and you could be walking through rough terrain as well as sitting in the office.
This board operates a 9 day per week working pattern (every other Friday off).
