The Quay School is a progressive educational establishment that supports young people through difficult times in their lives. Our different sites provide for very different needs and we are currently looking to employ a Pastoral Worker to work at our Harbourside Campus to support the development of behaviour and emotional wellbeing of some of our most vulnerable students.

The Quay School takes great care to recruit the very best people so that the service we provide is first class. We believe that the best work gets done in an environment that's enjoyable and which values, supports and encourages the development and wellbeing of its employees. In return we expect our employees to work hard and be committed to help us achieve our vision and share our values.

A desire to work with children and young people and to tenaciously ensure that they have the support needed to overcome barriers to their learning is essential. Flexibility will be key in this role, as well as supporting the behavioural and emotional development of our students, responsibilities will include; building and maintaining links with outside agencies who are able to support our students, and ensuring that all pupils are baseline tested to enable teaching staff to meet the needs of students. Though new staff induction, CPD and continual support will be offered, experience of working in a school will be essential.

Applicants will need to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to multi task. The candidate must also have excellent literacy and numeracy skills. A grade C or above in GCSE English and Maths, or the equivalent, is essential.

The successful candidate would become an essential part of the team and the school culture. You will be supported fully by equally passionate staff and in return for your hard work you will be rewarded in the knowledge that you have enabled life changing opportunities for young people whom otherwise might not get this chance.

The Quay School works with the most vulnerable children in Poole and surrounding areas, therefore is not without its challenges and certainly not for the faint-hearted. Our different bases provide education for pupils out of school for a number of reasons including exclusion or at risk of exclusion and pupils who are too physically or mentally ill to attend mainstream school. For the right candidate this is an incredibly rewarding place to work.

If the above sounds like you then we would very much like to hear from you.
