Job Title Credit Controller

Reporting to Finance Manager

Summary of the role's main purpose

To ensure the smooth operation of the credit control function for all UK and Irish companies that are within the Petit Forestier Group of Companies.

Principle Accountabilities

1.To perform all credit control tasks for customers of Petit Forestier Group in the UK and Ireland, including but not restricted to chasing customers for payment, following up previous calls and resolving complaints whilst exercising skill to retain good customer relations wherever possible. Investigating customer queries and liaising with depots.

2.To carry out all legal preparation work in respect of delinquent accounts, including liaison with the Company’s solicitors.

3.To work with the Finance Manager and Finance Director on the development of credit control tools that can be used by depots, in order to drive forward the effectiveness and efficiency of the credit control function.

4.Other ad-hoc duties as requested by the Finance Manager or Finance Director, including providing cover for other areas of the Finance Department.

Key Technical Skills

·Excellent operating knowledge of Kerridge, Cegid, Microsoft Office and email packages, or equivalent, including advanced spreadsheet and word processing skills or a similar software package.

·Possesses relevant legal experience and knowledge, including knowledge of the effects of different courses of actions available to deal with delinquent customer accounts.

·Proactively seeks to improve systems, and is able to bring forward ideas for improvement of the credit control systems.

·Ability (probably from extensive experience in credit control and in some technical areas of the motor vehicle industry) to “sense” from various available data whether a customer is likely to default in future (within or in association with inter-personnel skills as above), to balance customer relations with refusal to give credit/further credit at a given time; and associated with this the ability to detect the difference between a genuine customer complaint and an excuse not to pay.

·Demonstrates a flexible approach to their work, and shows willing to assist in covering for colleagues as required.


·Previous credit control experience in the automotive industry (preferably in refrigerated vehicles).

·Proven track record of developing and maintaining effective credit control systems.

·Is in possession of recognised professional credit control qualifications.

·Possesses relevant ICM qualification.
