A small primary PRU in Lambeth is recruiting an experienced teaching assistant to start ASAP until the end of the academic year. Working hours will be 8.20-4pm Monday to Friday.

Students have a statement or Educational Health Care Plan for SEMH difficulties. The schools aims to support student's barriers to learning, while helping them with communication skills and emotional intelligence. They have a unique approach to managing behaviour and believe in a nurturing and therapeutic approach. The head teacher is very hands on and offers ongoing support to all staff.

This particular role will be providing whole class support to a Y4/5 class. Responsibilities include academic support, playground supervision and supporting the class teacher. It is imperative you have a calm personality and are confident in this challenging but rewarding environment.

Key skills and experience needed:

  • University degree or A Level qualification.
  • Primary experience preferred but not essential.
  • Strong Behaviour management techniques.
  • Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
  • Professional manor.
  • Enthusiasm and friendly approach.
  • Experience or knowledge within special educational needs.
