HCC Syndicate Accountant

Excellent opportunity for a qualified/part qualified accountant to join this established Lloyd's market insurer.

The successful candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of the London Insurance market, both from a Lloyd's and London market perspective.



Job Purpose:

  • Support the Lloyd's Syndicate Reporting Team to ensure the accurate and timely production of all Lloyd's Syndicate Reporting;
  • Support the Lloyd's Syndicate Reporting Manager in maintaining compliance and ensuring the production of all Syndicate accounting reports in line with regulatory requirements;
  • Continuously seek to improve and develop processes and reporting, considering the entire end-to-end accounting process;

Key responsibilities within this role will include:



1. Preparation of Lloyds Reports;

  • Compilation of syndicate reporting in line with Lloyds reporting timetable;
  • Prepare GQD, QMA, QMB, PMDr, Trust Funds, TRIA, NAIC, US SIS, CAN SIS and DD returns for GAAP, signed and Forecast results for submission to Lloyds;
  • Present returns to internal & external stakeholders for review as part of the group governance process working alongside and with compliance team;
  • Reconciliation of technical accounts and non- technical accounts including development of LCA reconciliation to support audit;
  • Prepare quarterly syndicate underwriting results;
  • Support the preparation of year end statutory accounts, notes and reviews;
  • Support the analytical review and commentary of business performance and position by class for management;
  • Provide support and understanding of UK GAAP and US GAAP entries posted to the General Ledger on a quarterly basis;
  • Review of daily and weekly cash movement recording with treasury team;
  • Support and liaise with management as well as external parties, including auditors and Lloyd's;

Ensure Lloyd's Syndicate Reporting is compliant;
  • Keep up-to-date with changes to regulatory reporting requirements for the Lloyd's Syndicate;
  • Support the assessment of changes to reporting requirements and ensure that systems and processes are changed where required;
Support the Lloyd's Syndicate Reporting Team
  • Work closely with the Financial Reporting Analyst;
  • Continually review own objectives in line with Legal Entity Reporting team goals;
  • Provide support to and knowledge sharing within the team;
  • Use a collaborative approach when working with others;
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and 'end to end process' thinking;
  • Prepare exception/KPI/data consistency and cash flow forecast reporting;


Other ad-hoc tasks as necessary
  • Support the Lloyds Reporting Manager and wider Finance department on strategic projects as required;
