Capital Actuary (business partnering)

£competitive salary + amazing benefits (Grade D)

Manchester city centre

Co-op Insurance is an award winning provider of general insurance products in the UK, with around 1.4 million customers coming to us for services including motor, home and pet insurance. We're currently transforming our business, investing in tools and technology that'll help us achieve our goal of becoming market leaders in customer satisfaction. Right now we're looking for a capital actuary (business partnering), responsible for maintaining and developing capital models to support business decisions and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you'll be responsible for the calculation of the standard capital formula and input into business decisions using capital models. With lots of exposure to senior colleagues, you'll be highly involved in business reporting and you'll own the analysis and presentation for capital reinsurance decisions.

What you'll do:

  • calculate the standard capital formula
  • use capital models to provide insightful input into business decisions
  • prepare and present MI and business reports to the committee and board
  • responsible for reinsurance and investment decision-making processes
  • leading, mentoring and developing a small team of analysts
To get going quickly, you'll be a nearly/fully qualified actuary. It would be highly beneficial if you've worked in general insurance before and if you have proven experience managing and inspiring a team. Above all, we'll look for you to be really confident in challenging, influencing and communicating with senior colleagues.

We'd love to talk to you if:

  • you've previously worked within a capital actuary role, particularly in insurance
  • you're a part qualified or qualified actuary
  • you love building relationships with a range of colleagues
  • you're able to bring strong verbal and written communication skills
  • you preferably have knowledge and experience of Igloo, along with the standard formula and internal models
  • you ideally have experience inspiring and leading a small team
  • you're passionate about making a difference and improving processes
Why Co-op

173 years ago the Rochdale pioneers came up with an idea that changed the world. They believed that when people work together, they're stronger, and it's thanks to them that as a Co-op colleague you'll receive a competitive salary and benefits including 27 days holiday, an annual incentive scheme, discounts on all kinds of products and services, and an amazing pension.

We're actively building diverse teams and we welcome applications from everyone. But we know that simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We want to create an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences. And we recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities they serve.

We can make adjustments to our interview process according to your needs. And we offer a flexible working environment, enabling our colleagues to adjust their hours to accommodate personal circumstances. You can find out more about all our Co-op people policies at coop.co.uk/peoplepolicies
