Operating at the heart of our business, Shared Services offer efficiencies to all of our Brands by providing centralised resources and competitive synergies for the Group. The Shared Services teams work across all Brands and are responsible for a huge range of activities from delivering product to over 30 countries worldwide, to achieving award winning store designs and handling 100,000 Customer Care calls each year. Within Shared Services there are over 1,000 employees working across 16 distinctive departments including IT, Finance, HR, Logistics, PR, Property, Digital and Purchasing.


The Group’s Data Protection Officer is looking for a bright, enthusiastic individual to join their small team. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved and build a career in an area of work that is ever evolving and growing globally. The successful candidate will be assisting all levels of Group staff in their understanding of UK, European and global privacy legislation and supporting the Group’s GDPR Readiness Project.


  • Support the Group’s GDPR Readiness Project; supporting data mapping, drafting policies and guidance notes, remaining abreast of updates, creating summary documents etc
  • Respond to SARs, customer privacy queries and complaints
  • Create and deliver employee training
  • Carry out Privacy Impact Assessments on business functions and projects
  • Develop an understanding of operational processes and controls, and support in assessing their effectiveness in mitigating data protection risks faced by the Group
  • Develop and maintain strong communication lines with key stakeholders
  • Work cross functionally to assure privacy practices and policies are communicated on a global scale


  • An understanding of current data protection legislation, the upcoming EU GDPR and its implications for commercial businesses
  • Willingness to learn and aptitude for acquiring new competencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable in presenting to and dealing with all levels of staff
  • Detail oriented and committed to a high degree of accuracy
  • Recent previous experience of data protection/ privacy related work is essential
  • Experience working in house is desirable
