Apprentice Receptionist

Erdington Leisure Centre, Orphanage Road, Erdington, Birmingham, B24 9HU

Working Week - 40 hours over 5 days, Monday to Sunday, 8hr shifts to be scheduled between 6:15am – 10:00pm [Mon to Fri] and 6:45am – 6:00pm [Sat & Sun]

Weekly Wage - National Minimum Wage - £7,280 to £14664

Minimum 13 months

Expected Apprenticeship Duration – minimum 13 months

Brief Overview

To work within a team of receptionists who are committed both to the provision of a quality customer service and also to the promotion and sale of products and services.

You will be helped to build relationships with peers, allowing you to achieve your professional development objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. To undertake the general duties of a receptionist, including:

    1. Operation of computerised front of house system, including the collection of cash and issuing receipts, in doing so complying with the Financial Procedures.

  2. Balancing of daily income.

Banking of daily income in accordance with Financial Procedures.
Operation of any facility booking systems in place.
Dealing with general enquiries, either by telephone or in person.
Promoting good customer relations.
Selling the products and services that the service offers, both at your place of work and at other sites.
Fully comply with the sales process for Health & Fitness and Swimming Lessons
  1. Assisting in marketing by ensuring that any promotional leaflets, brochures etc. are effectively displayed, and to assist in their production, as required.

To follow all Health and Safety procedures whilst performing your duties.
Such other related duties as from time to time may arise or be assigned by the Duty Manager.

Desired skills

You must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent customer care and communication skills, both face to face and via the telephone

Be computer literate
Be able to work effectively in stressful situations

Experience of working in a busy leisure environment and in dealing with high volumes of customers, adults and children would be advantageous.

Desired personal qualities

We are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic, reliable, determined and hardworking and who is happy to constantly learn and develop new skills with an interest in Customer Service.

Desired qualifications

GCSEs Grades A to E in Maths, English and ICT (or acceptable equivalent).

You will also need to complete an on-line initial assessment, which will help us guide you to the most appropriate programme to meet your needs.
