Income officer required on a contract basis for an Independent Supported Housing charity in Berkshire. This well-known housing charity primarily focuses on preventing homelessness and supports vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the local town. The Housing Income officer is required immediately for a 2-3- month full time contract.

Role / Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring all housing related income is collected from tenants
  • Giving assistance and advice around claiming benefits and the support on offer
  • Ensure completion of Housing Benefit forms
  • To action arrears cases in accordance with the Arrears Policy and Procedure
  • Ensure prompt and appropriate contact is made with customers who fall into arrears of rent and or tenant charge
  • Provide clients with accurate and appropriate advice and information about amounts payable and what payment options are available to them
  • Take appropriate action to deal with breaches of debt related tenancy conditions

Requirements

  • 2 year's experience within an income management role within a general needs or supported housing setting
  • Experience of managing rent accounts and arrears caseload
  • Experience of managing welfare and housing benefit claims
  • Experience within a finance background
  • Experience of presenting court cases, providing evidence, acting as a witness
  • Experience of co-coordinating housing maintenance for support services
  • Experience of working with contractors and effectively managing relationships
  • Experience of administration, co-ordination and working to deadlines
  • Experience of Health & Safety
