Qualified Commercial Accountant opportunity with a leading manufacturing and distribution business in central Wakefield.

The business is one of the largest independent wholesale organisations in the UK and part of a large, acquisitive business that has experienced significant growth in the last few years. The Commercial Accountant will support a highly experienced Finance Director through the provision of insightful analysis that will support strategic and operational decision making processes.

The Commercial Accountant will be specifically responsible for providing a comprehensive forecasting, accounting and analytical service to the business for sales and margin reporting across a multi-site production and distribution function.

Duties include:

  • Production of regular daily, weekly and monthly reports on sales and margin to enable the business to monitor output and track performance against budget, targets and historical results, driving decisions and corrective actions where necessary
  • Working with the Financial Controller to produce the monthly management accounts pack and supporting schedules
  • Production of ad hoc reports to further analyse sales and margin
  • Working with the Finance Director to determine the annual budget
  • Budgetary control of various aspect of product revenues and costs
  • Monitor margin on a real time basis incorporating both new customer pricing and existing customer sales price amendments
  • Account for promotional income and various supplier claims
  • Validate the company stock valuation
  • Promote a commercial understanding throughout the business, coaching colleagues to generate accurate reports using specialist reporting tools
  • Drive process and systems improvements wherever possible
  • The profile of individual that would be well suited to this opportunity includes:

      ACCA / CIMA qualifiedExperience of working in a fast paced FMCG, distribution or manufacturing environmentGood business partnering experience with the ability to communicate at all levels within the business including Director, Sales Manager, Sales Executive, Production and Operations staff
    • Strong analytical and presentation skills with excellent knowledge of excel and report generation.
