Trainee Burner - Hartlepool

A vacancy has arisen for a Trainee Burner based at our Hartlepool facility.

The purpose of the Trainee Burner is to carry out all activities in a safe manner, in accordance with company procedure. To ensure that all material processed adheres to grade specification, and customers’ request.

Key accountabilities of the Trainee Burner include:

    Preparing purchased scrap through the use of a burning torchExamine unprepared scrap to ensure conformance with company standardsMaintains torching environment in line with company controlsLiaise with Yard Foreman to ensure specification for material processedEnsure activities carried out comply with company proceduresCarry out daily visual inspections of equipment for safetyAttend any training courses that the company proposesEnsure the working area is kept in a clean and tidy state at all timesEnsure that all Environmental, Health and Safety requirements are adhered to on sitePerform such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably requireComply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety and Community
Applicants must have a proven track record of working within a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills. They will be self-motivated, flexible and adaptable with a proven ability to adhere to safety procedures whilst fulfilling daily duties. The candidate will be willing to seek assistance from the yard Supervisor if needed whilst having integrity and confidentiality. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy with exceptional organisational skills. Extra hours may be required on weekdays, weekends and holidays, they will have the willingness to travel/stay away and have a driving licence. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also required.

Candidates will be capable of wearing a respirator. Experience in the use of flame cutting / burning scrap metal would be advantageous.
