The Internal Audit function provides the Board of Management with independent advice on the organisations’ risks and controls and works with the business to identify and implement improvements where needed.

This is mainly achieved by conducting audit engagements. These aim to help the business to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.

About the role

During your placement year you will assist the team in planning and performing various internal audits across the business. The role will also assist in the follow-up process to close the audit actions that have been raised. During the placement you will be supported in developing an awareness of the regulatory environment for the Financial Services sector in the UK and the Banking sector in Germany.

  • Work with the Internal Audit team to plan and perform operational, financial and compliance audits
  • Support the Internal Audit team to prepare, coordinate, perform and follow up on joint audits with the Corporate Internal Audit team at VWFS AG
  • Develop an understanding of the standards and best practices set out by the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Corporate Internal Audit team of VWFS AG
  • Assist in the follow up of audit findings with the Internal Audit team
  • Assist the Internal Audit team to prepare monthly reports to the Board of Management and quarterly reports to the Head of Corporate Internal Audit in VWFS AG.
  • Develop a network of key contacts in each of the business areas
About you

  • Studying towards a Business related or Computer Science degree
  • Demonstrates an understanding of regulatory principles, sources and interpretation
  • Good interpersonal and team player skills
  • Resilient and self-motivated with the capability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to learn and apply new or unfamiliar knowledge quickly
  • Methodical, analytical and disciplined approach to work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent PC skills, especially MS Office applications such as Excel and Word
  • An interest in the Automotive / Financial Services sectors.
