Credit Controller

Role Purpose

Working closely with Finance, Sales and Operations departments to ensure that debtor issues are managed and resolved smoothly and in a timely manner. The Credit Controller will manage the collection of finances and the resolution of account queries, raising of sales invoices and issuing of credit notes.

The Credit Controller will take ownership of the payment tracker and be measured on the timely collection of payment from customers and meet cash & debtor targets

Key Duties

Deal with payment queries, ensuring customers pay on time and negotiating payment plans where necessary, managing disputed bill situations and supporting the Operations team (primarily Service Excellence and Planning) to collect payment

Chase overdue invoices by telephone, email & letter within agreed timescales

Maintain accurate records of customer payment / debt history

Ensure full reconciliation of sales ledger and debtors with Finance Department requirements

Identify non-payment risks and propose action to avert bad debt

Provide accurate advice on invoice queries, both internal and from customers, responding promptly to avoid payment delays

Manage the daily payment tracker to ensure payments are being collected and resolve any issues that are preventing collection

Work with our legal and insurance teams, ensuring regular updates are being provided

Ensure monthly processing and reporting deadlines are met

Provide ad-hoc reporting and projects as and when requested by management

Key Skills

Educated to a relevant degree level or with appropriate accounting qualification – Essential

Excellent IT skills, with 5 years demonstrable experience (ideally in credit control type environment) – Essential

Able to work alone or with a team, sharing knowledge, skills and experience with others to achieve team performance – Essential

Self-motivated and able to work under pressure – Essential

A high attention to detail and accuracy – Essential

Good interpersonal and communication skills – Essential

Sound analytical skills, applying theoretical or practical knowledge – Essential

Prior experience with credit control systems – Essential

The ability to manage and delegate where necessary in a professional manner – Essential

Salary and benefits

Salary – £21,500 per annum

Hours – 37.5 hours per week to include 2 days working 10.30am - 7.00pm.
