How the role fits in

A vacancy has arisen for a project accountant within the UK Finance Management Accounts team. Reporting into the Financial Accountant as part of a team of five Assistant Management Accountants.

This role will be mainly focused on Project Accounting for our IT and Business projects but will also support the wider month end process as required.

The role day to day

Project Reporting

  • Working closely with the Project Management Office (“PMO”) and the Business Technology Group (“BTG”) and other key stakeholders within the business
  • Developing automated project reporting capability out of Access, to produce monthly P&L's by project
  • Tracking and reporting the spend on projects through their lifecycle - ensuring time is recorded correctly to corresponding projects
  • Ensuring that any accruals for project costs are created where required
  • Identifying any missed or erroneous capitalisation working with the business to ensure that it is corrected
  • Chase outstanding Capex forms to ensure that projects can be capitalised where appropriate
  • Own the Access Project tracking module (Funtime2) including creation and monitoring of Project codes
  • Ensuring that projects are closed promptly once delivered and amortised appropriately
  • Identifying different types of project costs (internal/external, CAPEX/OPEX) and applying necessary accounting treatment
  • Develop existing monthly performance reporting to create insight
  • Identify and deliver (with support) systems development and automation opportunities
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process, working with the business to understand future cost requirements by project.
  • Supporting the Management Accounts team
  • Taking responsibility for the month end process for allocated Cost Centres / Nominals as required

  • What you'll need to help make the best of the role

  • You will be a part qualified Accountant studying towards CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent with experience working in a management accounts role
  • Able to build strong relationships with people and teams across the business
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (to include working knowledge of Vlookups, sumifs, pivot tables)
  • Demonstrable experience of improving processes or systems
  • Enjoy the challenges that come with working in a customer focused, fast paced and high growth business
