Trainer and Assessor

Location: Flexible within the West Midlands

Kier Strategic Highways are currently recruiting for a Trainer and Assessor to join the Area 9 Highways Maintenance Contract. The successful post holder will be responsible for producing and delivering training material primarily to enable the company to meet the detailed requirements of JAUPT, LANTRA and City & Guilds. In addition, to train and assess staff and workforce throughout the business in various other disciplines including driver training, SAFED, mobile plant, small tools and Health and Safety training.

Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities. Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.

Key Responsibilities:

* To ensure all training courses and content are produced and regularly updated in accordance with current legislation and the requirements of various awarding bodies.
* To deliver training and assessment in line with the awarding organisations policies and procedures.
* To produce and maintain accurate training/assessment records in preparation for External Verification from awarding organisations including JAUPT (Driver CPC), LANTRA (various Traffic Management Qualifications) & City & Guilds (Winter Service)
* Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to trainees and other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
* Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

* Right attitude and aptitude to deliver to an audience most probably made up of previous peers
* Willingness to travel (occasional trainer meetings, initial trainer training courses, but also potential further scope to support other contracts/areas if time allows)
* Willingness to work occasional nights (if assessing TM)
* Experience of a Highway Maintenance operational background
* LANTRA 12 AB and C (Trainer & Assessor)
* IPV
* City & Guilds Winter Service Operations (Trainer & Assessor)
* LGV Driving Licence
* Excellent IT Skills
* Time Management

Desirable Skills/Experience but not essential:

* Driver CPC Instructor
* Level 3 Award in Education and Training
* Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement
* NEBOSH NGC1 and NGC2 Health and Safety
* Internal Quality Assurance Assessor Award
* Radio Detection Instructor (Cat & Genny)
* First Aid Instructor Qualification
* NPORS Operator Card
* Lesson Planning
