Senior Software Development Manager (Knowledge/Experience or R&D Desirable) - Liverpool - circa 110k + Bonus Senior Software Development Manager (Knowledge/Experience or R&D Desirable) - Liverpool 80,000 - 110,000 with 20% Bonus and Excellent Benefits and relocation package/Visa Sponsorship My client is a global brand in cutting-edge and globally recognised technology and Entertainment Company specialising in the growth of popular sports engagement. They have recently obtained a new business opportunity which in turn has enabled business growth, predominately in their IT team. They are now actively seeking an experienced Research and Development Software Manager to be based in their Merseyside office. Job Purpose As the Senior Software Development Manager you will be responsible for designing and leading the R&D processes and overseeing the development team to ensure the smooth transfer of new technology solutions to all groups or departments involved in innovation. This role also requires you to contribute towards the development of mobile app frameworks (iOS, Android, Web alongside API's and SDK's). As the successful candidate, you will manage and direct the R&D programmes/teams and steer the development team to meet business needs and capitalise on potential new products. You will develop and implement development and research procedures and techniques, oversee complex research projects, analyse the results then provide recommendations based on your findings. You will ensure projects and solutions are delivered on time and in budget ensuring they are competitive and in line with brand/product strategy. You will have an excellent technical understanding to provide the management and project teams with in-depth technical options. You will then design, implement and evolve highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed components using functional programming paradigms which will help facilitate real time and remote troubleshooting to maximise profitability and performance. As part of your new role you will have responsibility for ensuring that the development team work as efficiently as possible by having clear goals and objectives. You will have accountability for the deliverables through the full project lifecycle and work with the various department heads to determine software requirements and how software applications can achieve business objectives. It is important to build and maintain relationships across the business and have the ability to identify and gaps in your team's knowledge. To be successful for this role you will have strong technical and analytical skills and a previous track record as a developer moving into a more senior level position with an interest or experience in R&D. You will have a demonstrable track record in the design and development of complex distributed software systems and have the ability to lead software development teams. You will need an understanding of all relevant current technologies and be commercially aware with a knowledge of new and upcoming technologies and how this will relate to the business. You will also need a good understanding of cloud environments and data centre container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos), an awareness of Big Data processing technologies (Hadoop, Spark, and Data Warehouse Solutions) and development languages (Scala, Golang, Erlang, Haskell or another functional programming or hybrid/FP-inspired language). You will possess excellent leadership, budgeting and managerial skills with the ability to liaise with various cross functional teams.
