Domain Architect / Application Architect / Back office Architect

My client, requires a Domain Architect / Application Architect / Back office Architect to join their IT department on a permanent basis.

Role Summary

Operating within the service and transformation function, working closely with cross-domain teams, the Domain Architect works in partnership with the business' and IT to manage and transform technology to deliver on long term enterprise architecture plans, which are closely aligned to the firm's IT and overall business strategy.

With a focus on driving transformation within the business, you will work alongside the Back Office team to determine how to implement change and with Service Management to support ownership of key critical services. You will have a strong influence and input into how the architecture vision and plans are implemented and supported on an on-going basis. Ultimately you will be the single face to the delivery teams for all solutions on integrations and landscape ensuring alignment with the other architects.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

The key responsibilities of the Domain Architect role are to become the recognised and consulted 'go-to' for architectural design and documentation; to deal with specific problems or changes within the domain through the application of technology. Balancing the impacts of maintenance, support and stability of existing services with the needs of the change and transformation programs.

Working with and using the output from other architects, joining detailed technical solutions to the overall architectural landscape. The focus of the Domain Architect is on enterprise-level business solutions within a given domain. A key figure in developing and ensuring an outcome based culture within transformation and delivery teams.

Being successful in the role requires the Domain Architect to champion the IT vision; ensuring all transformation decisions are in line with the strategy and compliant with Architecture Standards; working within the internal and external governance processes to ensure that solutions are designed, developed and delivered according to the agreed principles and key business outcomes, and maintain solid working relationships with the Senior Service Managers and Enterprise Architects.

Day-to-day, the Domain Architect is responsible for:
*Maintaining specialist knowledge of the technologies and vendors of the domain;
*Creating/maintaining interface catalogues, data models and reference models to define business continuity and business impact;
*Agreeing and approving all deviations on customizations and architectural guidelines;
*Translation of business outcomes and overall IT vision / conceptual architectures in to logical architectures and transition states;
*Taking a strategic view of project & domain objectives, deliverables, business benefit realisation plans and business implementation plans for projects from an overall design and integration perspective to ensure sound methodologies are applied;
*Ensuring changes align with the originating business objectives as well as supporting the delivery and operation;
*Leading or supporting the creation of project architecture direction in the vision statement of new initiatives;
*Working closely with the Service Managers to develop an intimate understanding of the business value chain and business processes within the domain;
*Actively supporting and consulting all projects within the domain as a member of the Architecture Review Authority (ARB);
*Ensuring Service Management and Enterprise Architecture stakeholder sign-off as-is and target domain architecture;
*Identifying opportunities to improve business processes;
*Aligning with other architects, be single face to the delivery teams for all solutions on integrations and landscape.
Key Requirements

Essential - all domains
*Experience in applying architectural principles into program delivery along with an awareness of modelling tools and architectural frameworks such as TOGAF and Zachman;
*Demonstrated business and commercial experience;
*Experienced with business change / transformation programmes;
*Understanding of agile methodology and the associated ways of working.
