The Role

They are maintaining a Full Stack PHP application, utilising a set of APIs to expose data to our PHP-based customer portals. Their PHP development team currently stands at seven; five in Eastern Europe and two in the UK - they are looking to expand the UK team and grow to a team of 6/7 developers over the next 6-9 months.

Your early work will be focused on API development in their existing PHP ecommerce platform. You will integrate and build new APIs, and suggest improvements going forward, both to their tech, their processes and their product. The Full Stack PHP Developer will also be constantly contributing to a front end which we are currently investing heavily into with the use of modern frameworks such as ReactJS, AngularJS or VueJS.

As the role matures you will be more involved in technical decision making, working alongside the Lead PHP Developer to define the technical roadmap.

About You

They are looking primarily for a Full Stack PHP developer, with experience writing object-orientated code in a commercial environment using an MVC framework. This is a Senior position and they are looking for you to help them define their best practices and technical direction moving forward.

On the front end they expect you to have solid grounding in Native JavaScript and be excited about the prospect of learning modern frameworks, on top of basic experience of HTML & CSS.

They are extremely proud of their codebase and they expect you to be passionate about clean code through the use of design patterns and testing your code in a TDD environment.

They are an agile house and would expect you to come from an agile background, following agile processes including daily stand ups, 2 week sprints, committing code in a CI/CD pipeline and taking part in code reviews.
