IT Systems Administrator (Server & Storage) Information Services Location: Brighton - Moulsecoomb Salary: 29,799 to 33,518 per annum This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving universitysupporting and enhancing its enterprise IT systems and infrastructure.You will be involved in the wide ranging development and operationalactivities of the IT Core Services team, contributing towards theadministration and management of the virtual and physical servers,systems and software that form the critical core services. You will be primarily responsible for the practical, routine andtechnical tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of theenterprise-level IT datacentres and the wide ranging critical servicesdelivered from them. Acting as a third-line contact and subject matterexpert for new server and storage service requests and incidentreporting, supporting a community of 21,300 students and 2,600 staffbased on five campuses in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings. You will have a degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrablepractical experience in a server and storage systems support role. Youwill possess a broad range of technical skills across Operating Systems(Microsoft Windows 2008 2012R2, LINUX - Red-Hat, CentOS), StorageTechnologies (SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, RAID, Zoning, etc..),Networking and Network protocols (such as TCPIP, DNS, DHCP, FTP, etc..),and familiarity with Enterprise Backup and Recovery products and concepts. You will be proficient within the virtualisation arena specialising inVMware vSphere and the VMware suite. Experience in enterprise datacentreoperations, including power and cooling and operational monitoring toolswould be an advantage.
