Our client is the most successful government back digital business. They are currently recruiting for a Finance business Partner on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. The role would suit someone who is comfortable in a fast paced environment, which is continuously developing and growing.

Accountability
  • This role is responsible for delivering finance business partnering service to specific areas of the business (the specific areas are likely to change over time but will be covering budgets of between £35-50m). This includes supporting and enabling the business to make decisions but also provide challenge where necessary.
  • This role is expected to lead/co-ordinate particular processes such as producing the monthly management accounts and looking after the cost centres as well as the statutory reporting
  • You will also be expected to produce monthly dashboards and conduct ad hoc reporting
  • Help with the production of the year-end financial statements, final schedules and liaise with the NAO in both the interim and year end audits.


Deliverables
  • Deliver a high quality finance business partnering service ensuring that the business has access to the information they need, have implemented adequate budgetary controls and given due consideration to affordability and value for money. This includes:
  • Regular contact with budget holders and Exec Board (EB) members ensuring that they understand their financial results and forecasts
  • Provision and continuous improvement of the finance management information to drive improved awareness of financial results and spend decisions
  • Co-ordinate and contribute to delivering the month-end timetable to ensure month-end management accounts and reporting can be completed ensuring the processes are controlled, efficient and effective including continuous improvement of the processes and reports e.g. incorporation of improved and systematic reporting and continuous review and improvement of reports/dashboard content.
  • Assist the Director of Finance deliver on the VAT implementation project
  • Ensure the team meets their year-end deliverables. This includes:
  • Contributing towards the production of the Corporation's financial statements, disclosure notes and audit schedules
  • Being a key contact with the National Audit Office (NAO)
  • Helping the team achieve any other deliverables in the year end plan.
  • Embed financial control improving the control environment through implementing internal control recommendations and completing and reviewing monthly Balance Sheet/SoFP reconciliations.
  • Help the Senior Financial Reporting Manager manage the year funding arrangements with DWP.
  • Manage the Scheme Fixed Asset Register


Relationships & Autonomy
  • This role is expected to be able to build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels within the orgainsation including regular contact with Execuative Board members.
  • This role is expected to build strong working relationships with a number of teams internally including HR, legal, PR communications and other teams within Finance and Procurement and is expected to have regular contact with external stakeholders including DWP, EY, and NAO.


Experience & technical skills
  • Previous experience of being a proactive finance business partner in a structured, professional environment & a strong track record of embedding financial awareness within the business
  • Experience of communicating credibly and confidently with senior management and auditors
  • Previous experience of hands on management or participation in the month end management accounting process
  • Strong management accounting and financial accounting experience as you will be expected to assist in the upcoming audits
  • Experience of working with financial models using advanced level MS Excel
  • Experience participating in the year end auditing process and production of financial statements

Education, qualification and professional membership requirements
  • Full accountancy qualification is required (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, etc.).
  • Good understanding of the International Financial Reporting Standards, Government Financial Reporting Manual and Managing Public Money
