Primary Teacher - Year 4 + Literacy Lead - Birmingham MPS-UPS A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious Primary Teacher in Birmingham. This is the perfect role for an experienced primary teacher who is looking for leadership. The role is on a 3 month trial basis with the potential for a permanent contract to be offered. If you form great relationships with the team and work hard within the role then a permanent offer will be on the table. The Headteacher holds strong opinions on professionals who are there for the children and want to stay on a permanent basis. NQT's will not be considered for this role. Year 4 They are a group of 29 pupils with mixed abilities. A Teaching Assistant will be provided in the AM's and there is a specialist SEN TA for interventions. The class teacher will: Collaboratively planned and assessed with the teacher and SEN TA. Teach, plan, prepare, assess and construct reports around the needs of the pupils Maintain the ethos of the school inside and outside of the classroom Contribute to constructive team building amongst the whole staff team including governors Remain up to date with all policies and work in accordance of national conditions of employment for school teachers English Lead This leadership opportunity will include: Develop, implement, monitor and maintain English teaching policies and practices which reflect the school's commitment to high achievement and which are consistent with national and school strategies and policies. Establish plans for the development and resourcing of English teaching. Monitor the progress made in achieving plans and targets, and evaluate the impact on teaching and learning. Manage the professional development of English teaching for staff and evaluate the impact on teaching and learning. Disseminate good practice in English through INSET, coaching and mentoring mechanisms. Provide guidance on a choice of appropriate teaching and learning methods including modelling good practice. Ensure the curriculum offers appropriate challenge, demonstrates good progress and evaluate their impact on teaching and learning. Evaluate the quality of teaching and standards of progress/attainment for pupils in English and set targets for quality controlled improvement. Support staff to develop an inspiring and engaging English curriculum which enables children to acquire excellent Literacy skills. Implement coaching and mentoring to support and develop staff teaching of English. Identify resources needed to meet the needs of the English curriculum and advise the Headteacher and Governing Body of priorities and expenditure. Monitor and control the use of these resources.
