This is a fantastic opportunity to join RM Results, a leading data services company with particular expertise in the education sector. This is a broad senior role in which you will work closely with our customers to ensure a clear understanding of their data and delivery requirements whilst playing a key leadership role within the project teams. As a Data Analyst you will join a team that is passionate about making a difference to education and you will help to support educational policy through analysis of data and quality assurance. Your responsibilities will include identifying, documenting and executing effective means to analyse and quality assure data at various stages from receipt through to final output. This is a high profile position demanding strong communication and influencing skills to liaise with clients and other key stakeholders. You will have a key role ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest quality. At RM Results we work across the educational data lifecycle, from the collection and cleaning of data, to the provision of business intelligence solutions and services which support decision making. Our clients include the Department for Education, Ofsted, and Local Authorities. The solutions we provide are at the heart of the schools' Performance Tables (known as the league tables) and the National Pupil Database amongst others. Data Quality is of prime importance to our customers and it is central to all of the products and services which we provide. Key responsibilities Liaise with the customer to ensure requirements are specified and agreed by maintaining a detailed understanding of the processes and business rules which are applied to data through the systems and services that RM Results provides to its customers. Undertake new and existing projects ensuring the delivery of data and interactive deliverables to time and schedule. Play a role in communicating delivery requirements to wider project team. Identify and ensure processes are in place to effectively quality assure data throughout the delivery process including the interactive outputs provided through business intelligence systems Promote data understanding across RM Results - particularly in the system test and development teams Identify processes and process improvements through which the different elements of data quality can be improved Skills & experience Degree level qualification (numerical discipline desirable). Strong analytical/problem solving skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Recent experience in quality assuring data presented through online systems or as data outputs which involve business rules in their calculation, and working with data to produce statistical outputs. Ability to use SQL or general purpose tools to interrogate databases and calculate statistical outputs. High level of attention to detail. Basic data domain knowledge in education e.g. different types of establishments, subjects, types of qualification, i.e. data dimensions (age, gender, level of qualifications). Ability to sense check figures based on an understanding of how data relates to the real world e.g. identifying, querying and investigating variations in measures from year to year to explain why they have occurred. Ability to prioritise efforts in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment.
