As a Graduate Engineer you will work as a part of a project team,alongside skilled and experienced individuals who are motivated to trainand coach you on the day-to-day skills required to work closely with ourcustomers, both internal and external. As a Graduate Engineer, you will be placed into a number of disciplineswithin the business (depending on your background and aspirations!)these include; Engineering Management, Software Engineering, ApplicationSupport & Maintenance, Systems Engineering & Architecture,Physical Science & Technology and Infrastructure Engineering. As a Graduate Engineer, you could be placed into one of the followingproject roles, depending on your skills and aspirations; Software Engineer - As a new graduate, we expect you to be ready totackle (and enjoy!) programming tasks from the outset, but we will takethe time to mentor you through smaller packages of work and enhancementsto our product range. You will work primarily in java, however we alwayslook for the best framework for the job; some of our developments use c#.net, c++ and html5 technologies. Electronic Engineer - Our Electronic Engineers design and developanalogue and digital electronics, VHDL and embedded/low level softwarefor a wide range of electronic systems. We expect you to takeresponsibility and tackle a number of different development tasks indifferent disciplines. Working under guidance from our expert engineersyou could implement complex signal-processing algorithms in VHDL, debugthe RF chain on a software radio, and develop embedded software to runon low power microcontrollers or develop ruggedised devices forchallenging environments. Test Analyst - Test Analysts play a crucial role in the delivery ofprojects and their involvement starts at the requirements analysisstage. Initially, testing roles are likely to include defining andcreating test cases from functional and technical specifications,executing test scripts and reporting the results clearly. Cyber Security Technical Specialist - This is an exciting role forpeople who love computers and technology, working in the most deeplytechnical part of the Cyber Security domain. Whether it's researchingnew technologies or creating software that makes a difference in thereal world, you'll always be working at the cutting edge of what'spossible. Working in Operational Cyber is a hands-on job, so we wantpeople who genuinely enjoy a challenge and getting stuck in to makingsoftware or taking systems apart to see how they work. The OperationalCyber team only picks our customer's biggest challenges to work on - ifit's easy, we'll let someone else do it! Data Analyst - As a data analyst, you will work on client projects toundertake research, collect and analyse data. You will advise clients onhow to extract the business benefit from data to inform their businessprocesses and future strategies. Skills and technology required for this role include: Knowledge: Strong academic background (Minimum of 300 UCAS points, on track to achieve/ already achieved minimum 2:1 classification at degree level) Currently studying a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline. Good understanding of technology and the IT industry BAE Systems standard techniques and offerings Skills: The below will change depending on the project role however tasks couldinclude: Applying the aptitude for solving complex/technical problems Demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with internal and client teams Assists in the design, test and implementation of software which forms part of a properly engineered system. Overcomes development obstacles to deliver quality code on time Helps to specify user/system interfaces Assists in producing detailed designs and documents using required standards, methods and tools Understands and translates a business design into a logical design, for a simple software application. Produces physical designs that describes the required structure and behavior of a simple software application characterized by low-risk non-functional requirements. Understands the information needs of the developer and test communities extracts this data from the business community Defines and creates test cases from the analysis of functional specifications. Interprets and executes sets of simple test scripts using agreed methods and standards. Checks test results, and documents test failures and successes compared with pre-determined criteria, in accordance with agreed standards. Reports test results to their manager and/or other colleagues in a clear and concise manner. Assists colleagues and clients/users in defining acceptance tests for systems. Assists colleagues and clients/users in reviewing system requirements in terms of testability. Assists in performing maintenance through the analysis of log files and system faults Contributes to maintenance and installation work Conducts research, data collection and analysis Evaluates and reconciles information gathered from multiple sources Builds basic process maps in the support of analysis work. Electronic Engineering: Contributing to the full engineering lifecycle, from working with clients through to every aspect of hardware design and manufacture. Implementing complex signal processing algorithms in VHDL. Designing switch mode power supplies, working on low power embedded systems, developing ruggedized devices for challenging environments. Assisting colleagues to pitch new ideas to clients. Managing multiple assignments independently, with support from colleagues. Able to demonstrate that you are a highly motivated problem-solver with a strong desire to approach a problem in a hands-on capacity. Carrying out research, data collection and analysis.
