My client are a global supplier of business communications solutions that optimise sending and receiving mail, parcels and email.

Due to recent growth they are looking to hire a field based role covering the North East, up to the Scottish borders. The field service engineer will provide a premium level of customer service, including remote resolution of issues, the efficient commissioning, repair and modification of hardware and software products and carry out preventative maintenance in accordance with procedures. Ideally the engineer will promote and sell their products, services and supplies directly to customers and generate sales and supplies revenue.


* Efficiently, professionally and economically carry out installations, repairs, preventative maintenance of hardware and software products in accordance with established processes, ensuring quality and professionalism and a positive customer experience
* Provide a high standard of operator training and remote support to ensure that the customer maximises their return on investment and minimise operator error failures, reducing the requirement field service site visits
* Maintain an effective parts stock to ensure a high level of 1st time repair and ensure their economic use, and a positive customer experience
* Support customers where possible by remote resolution and on site as a trusted adviser, sharing best practice and industry knowledge
* Flexibility to work occasionally outside of normal geographic area and normal working hours
* Actively seek opportunities to promote products and services and sell supplies, envelopes and other products within the product range
* Actively participate in team meetings, looking to share best practice and work as part of the team to deliver continual improvement
* Actively contribute to projects as required applying expertise, industry and customer knowledge to achieve the best outcome
* Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Royal Mail procedures and obligations
* Accurate recording of data and activity in accordance with established processes
* Maintaining awareness and keeping abreast of constantly changing software, hardware systems and peripherals



* Extensive problem-solving skills, including excellent mechanical, and electronic diagnostic and repair skills and industry recognised qualifications:
* B-TEC, Higher National Certificate, City & Guilds or equivalent
* Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of software products including installation, updating and use
* Previous experience in a customer facing engineering role
* Excellent telephone manner, with good verbal and written communication skills
* Experience of working with IT Networks, LAN, Wi-Fi
* Good IT literacy, knowledge of MS office
* Exceptional planning, organising and customer facing skills
* Must be able to manage own time and work priorities
* Ability to be able to provide the correct information to the relevant parties in a timely manner
* Full UK driving licence


* Knowledge of Operating Systems, Access Database and ODBC connections, SQL database and setting up access rights
* Previous experience in a Field Service Role (min 1 year)
* Ability to multitask and good time management skills.
* Experience in selling products, services or consumables to customers
