Job DetailsWork alongside colleagues in an agile environment to develop and maintain the Company's existing and future applications, APIs, modules, and processes, helping to ensure they are user-friendly, robust, and meet all functional and non-functional specifications.


Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and deploy applications, delivering creative solutions to problems, working to design briefs, and with guidance and support, provided by the senior developer and IT managerDebug both internally and externally-reported issues, and endeavour to maintain optimal performance of applications at all timesWork within an agile team and participate fully in all team meetingsTake both individual and collective responsibility for the successful operation of the Company's applicationsShare knowledge within agile team and the wider departmentParticipate in peer code reviews, both as reviewer and reviewedSupport the external infrastructure the applications run on, including recommending changes, deploying new VM's and deploying new code.


Person Specification:Qualifications

Essential Experience

A-level, Certificate, or diploma's in relevant technical subjectsNo previous commercial experience is required, but evidence of developing applications with PHP and Javascript is essential. (E.g github projects, live systems etc).Desirable Experience

Relevant degree or equivalent qualification or experienceIndustry-recognised certifications or qualifications, such as Zend Certified EngineerDemonstrable commercial experience developing PHP-based applications (Ideally in Laravel).Skills

PHP 5/7PHP MVC/MVVM frameworks, preferably LaravelRelational database design, implementation, and usage, preferably MySQLFront-end web languages and markup, including HTML/CSS, and JavascriptWeb server configuration, preferably Apache2 or NginxWriting unit tests using testing frameworks such as PHPUnitGeneral Linux usage, preferably UbuntuDesirable Skills

Understanding and implementing functional and non-functional requirementsSource control systems, preferably Git and the Gitflow branching modelContainerising applications using tools such as DockerFamiliarity with ticket tracking systems and build tools, such as Atlassian Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Slack.JavaScript / Typescript experience (Ideally Ionic or similar framework).Personal
