So let me set the scene... You are sitting at home, or maybe sitting in the office during a break. You might even be on the train home from work. To be honest, it doesn't matter where you are. What matters is what you are doing... i.e. searching for a new job. The issue? Where do you begin! Whether its copy and pasted job descriptions, recruiters trying to sound technical (I am a recruiter so I am aware this could potentially be ironic) or badly written sales pitches, the majority of job ads fail to do one thing... Explain what the role actually consists of! So I thought I would attempt to appeal to your better nature and describe an opportunity that might just be the role you have been waiting for... Who they are? They are a Global E-Commerce Provider operating in the online space, providing a service that spans over 150 countries across the world. They have a state-of-the-art platform enabling them to constantly provide their customers with the best possible service and pride themselves on their willingness to embrace technology rather than fear it. They are on a long journey towards their ultimate goal of being a fully Agile service provider and they need you to help them get to that stage. The question is whether you feel you are up to the challenge? What the role consists of? The role will be based out of their 'Innovation Centre' in London and will be focused on managing the development of x2 greenfield products based around technologies such as AWS, Java, Spring, Hibernate, ReactJS, HTML5 and Android. This office is basically an incubator for a Start-Up product they have created, and offers a unique opportunity to have the feel and vibe of a Start-Up with the backing of a Global organisation - so if you are coming from a small Tech House or Software Consultancy then you might be just the person they are looking for! Fundamentally, you will be expected to be a true technologist and they are looking for somebody who is close to the technology - but don't worry, you don't need to still be coding to apply to this! This is because the role will involve getting involved in all phases of the Software Lifecycle and wider areas such as Architecture and Code Reviews. You will be the driving force behind implementing coding standards and industry best practice and will be expected to champion the use of Agile methodologies and wider processes such as BDD, TDD and DevOps. Moreover, you will be involved in the project delivery process so an understanding of the project management toolkit would be equally handy. What are some of the benefits? The benefits of applying for this role are pretty simple if you are truly somebody who is passionate about technology. You will be joining an organisation investing millions into their technical division and you will be joining an organisation who has hired top tech talent from organisations such as Amazon, Facebook, Apple and Google - not bad eh? Moreover, you will benefit from being given creative control to build a new team from the start and this is something hard to find in today's seemingly copycat job market. But if you are looking for some of the wider financial benefits then they are also not something that should be frowned upon! They offer a salary between 80,000 - 110,000 alongside home working, flexible working hours and a flexible benefits package. So if you have read through this advert and feel that the I've struck a chord then give me a shout to discuss this role in greater detail! I can be contacted on either 0191 338 7540 or 07943721308. Alternatively, send me an email to! Anything discussed will remain completely confidential. - provided by Dice AGILE, ANDROID, AWS, BDD, HIBERNATE, HTML5, JAVA, PROJECT MANAGEMENT, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING, SPRING, TDD
