I am working with a brand new client who is looking for an Embedded Development Engineer to join there team.

As a new member of the product design & development team with an 'Embedded firmware bias' you will be required to drive the development on some key projects. The company has big plans in many different areas and hence needs a diverse range of software abilities. My client is looking for someone who can work with minimum supervision & deliver projects, as while providing skills primarily in on the software aspects of embedded systems these projects. This will include:

  • Working with colleagues & management team to deliver projects on against a plan from concept to launch.
  • Using & adapting existing system architectures to fit new specifications

Required Skills

These are the essential skills required for the role:

Embedded firmware & uP software design - with ARM products using C++Hardware design of embedded elementsSoftware system testing principlesIoT / Wireless / Network skillsWilling to learn new skills and diversify as required.The ability to work with a multi-skilled team considering customer needs at all times.

Desired Skills

The following skills are desired but not essential, although you may be required to learn some or all of them as projects develop:

Hardware design - other elementsPCB layout - Mentor graphics DX designer / PADS flowProduct Compliance - CE marking, Safety & EMC testingDesign for ManufactureWorking with ISO 9001 Quality SystemPrinciples of Audio electronics / systemsDSP experienceExperience of industry sectors such as Pro-Audio, Rail, AutomotiveKnowledge of network based audio protocols e.g. AES3, DANTE, VOIP etcOther software systems development skills C#, Javascript, QT etcKnowledge of Ethernet
  • TCP/IP suit including Telnet, SNMP, SMTP, FTP and IOT protocols like MQTT, CoAP
  • Wireless protocols - BLE, NFC.
  • RTOS - ThreadX
