Key Stage 1 SEN Teacher London Borough of Hounslow Outstanding Ofsted Special school for EBD/ASD/MLD January Start Long Term Contract The School We are currently looking for an SEN Teacher to join this Outstanding SEN School in the Borough of Hounslow. The school caters for children aged 5 to 11 with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD). The school is located within a short walk from a number of bus stops and is easily accessible by public transport. The role As an SEN Teacher, you would be teaching a class of up to 9 students with the aid of at least one teaching assistant. The school is looking for someone with the ability to plan and deliver engaging and creative lessons, differentiated in order to meet the needs of individual children. You would need to be able to assess students work and regularly monitor progress in order to provide effective feedback and encourage progression. Students at this level are working below the national curriculum levels and would be learning a range of subjects including Maths, English, Science, PSHE, ICT, PE and Religious Studies. The Candidate The successful SEN Teacher would have experience in working with children with similar needs as well as having exceptional behavioural management skills. The school provides excellent training to all staff in order to deal with challenging behaviour. Each student at the school has a detailed behaviour plan and so you would need to be incredibly organised. Due to the needs of the children, you would need to maintain a calm and supportive environment within classes and around the school in order to ensure students feel safe at all times. Excellent communication is essential as you would need to be able to work effectively with parents, guardians and support staff. Experience in using speech, language and communication aids and Read Write Inc would be advantageous, however the school provides in-school training for all staff in addition to regularly sending staff on external courses to accommodate the needs of the students.
