Front End Developer/Engineer - Permanent - Kingston upon Thames Essential:- Ability to take ownership of projects & communicate well with project stakeholders. Proven experience of working in an agile environment. Develop front-end code HTML, CSS, JS Frameworks & JavaScript. To have a passion for new web & digital technologies. Experience with server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as SASS. Review technical feasibility of Design & UX. Experience of working with & developing partner & 3rd party agencies. Competitive salary with bonus, Healthcare & Pension & Agile working, up to 10% travel Business Context & Main Purpose of the Front End Developer/Engineer role:- Front End Developer/Engineer is required to work with third parties to develop the front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), with a focus on best practice, performance, maintainability & quality. The Front End Developer/Engineer is responsible for ensuring high quality mobile first, cross-browser compatible websites are delivered. The candidate will work together with the agencies to set the standards & best practices for the team & ensure that these are adhered to by conducting automated code reviews. The Front End Developer/Engineer will also work alongside the Platform Development team to support them implementing front-end code into the brand sites & troubleshooting any performance related issues. Main Accountabilities The technical skills required to deliver the role above are as follows: - Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript & JS frameworks - Experience with build tools like Grunt or similar tools - Strong working knowledge developing cross platform/browser compatible web applications - Familiarity with & adherence to HTML5 web standards & current accessibility standards - Familiarity with linting or other code quality tools like SonarCube. - Develop front end code with performance, scalability & accessibility in mind. - Develop reusable code & libraries - Knowledge of Version Control Systems - Experience with server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as SASS - Maintain awareness of industry standards & best practices - Ability to separate server side & client side performance issues for proper analysis & solutioning. Quality Assurance is a key part of this role, so in addition to the technical skills the following is required: - Building mobile-first, cross-browser compatible, high performing websites - Review technical feasibility of Design & UX - Develop & manage a Front End Coding Standards document for adoption across the platform - Work closely with 3rd party agencies, to ensure a governance process is in place to meet the coding standards - Support developers with integration of front end code into CMS, ensuring a governance process in place to meet the coding standards - Take ownership of prototype lab site & QA before integration with the CMS. - Develop a process to ensure all fixes & changes happen & are signed off in the lab site before integration with the CMS. - Experience of testing techniques & planning Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK Established in 1978, NES Global Talent provides a complete range of contract and permanent talent solutions to the Oil and Gas, Power, Construction and Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Manufacturing and IT sectors worldwide.
