Autism Teacher January start 135 - 165 daily rate - dependant on experience within Special Needs Excellent on-site facilities Bexley Linked with a local mainstream primary school Huge amount of CPD on offer A large SEN School based in Bexley are looking to recruit an Autism Teacher for their Secondary department to start in January on a full time basis. Autism Teachers will need to be able to teach across the curriculum and differentiate lessons according to their needs. As an Autism teacher you will complete 1:1 support for students including assisting in personal care tasks (feeding, changing, toileting etc.). This Autism Teacher role would suit both experienced fully qualified teachers from SEN schools or mainstream primary schools - experience supporting learners would be advantageous though not a necessity, excellent behaviour management is key to be successful in this role. The school has an amazing training scheme and induction programme and as a result, encourages applications from NQTs. The ideal Autism teacher will have the following: Excellent behaviour management Has QTS Has experience teaching Autistic students Strong subject knowledge of the national curriculum Experience using PECs and Makaton (preferable but not essential) Team Teach (A huge bonus but not essential) This is an all through school (ages 5-18) which has recently opened its sixth form centre to accommodate students looking to continue their studies past GCSE level. Across Secondary, students are taught by 1 teacher, across all subjects, with specialist teachers for PE, Music and Art, as well as 1:1 therapy sessions. They offer a huge amount of training and are linked to a local primary school, giving all staff the opportunity to observe best practice from a huge amount of SEN and mainstream teachers. They cater for students with ASD and MLD and try to ensure all needs are met by using a wide range of resources such as PECs, computer systems and Makaton.
