My client is seeking a senior materials handling engineer to work within the project development team of its US$2.9 billion multi-discipline engineering, procurement and construction project. Reporting to the engineering manager, you will contribute to the engineering design input at all stages from construction to operation.

Key responsibilities
* Provide input into layouts and designs for conveyors, a material handling facility and a port
* Manage the engineering interface for major equipment packages, including conveyors, HPGRs and ship loader
* Coordinate various contractors to ensure battery limits are effectively managed
* Supervise and co-ordinate the work of others within the team and co-ordinate work with engineers of other disciplines
* Attend meetings and communicate with project team members and contractors to support on-going progress
* Carry out onsite inspections to ensure systems are constructed in accordance with the design intentions
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team

Skills, experience and attributes

* Degree Qualified
* Proven track record of design, construction and operation of material handling systems
* Experience procuring major equipment
* Experience supervising design consultants
* A can do, hands on approach, ability to work well under pressure and prioritise workload to meet project needs
* Flexible, adaptable and collaborative approach to multidisciplinary design, willing to engage across the design disciplines
* Proven ability to work as part of a team
* Committed to sustainable design with knowledge of current techniques and technologies as applied to own discipline and wider building services
* Commercially aware
* Competent user of Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel
