The Role - Learning Support Assistant
For this learning support assistant role you must have previous experience supporting children with behavioural difficulties, this does not necessarily need to be in a classroom environment however would be preferred. The SENCO has specifically highlighted that she is looking to take on a very proactive, enthusiastic and resilient learning support assistant that will put their students first at every stage. You will be required to support students that present challenging behaviour and this may be on a 1:1 basis in the classroom or in small groups. Ideally, you will hold a degree however this is not essential, but you must have strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as atleast a C at GCSE in Maths and English.
The School - Mainstream Secondary School
This secondary school is found in the outer London borough of Croydon and is rated "OUTSTANDING" by Ofsted. They have a well-structured SLT who work from ground level upwards to ensure they are able to help teachers of all levels. They have roughly 1600 pupils on roll and are looking at a potential expansion in the coming years. For this learning support assistant role you will be based in the SEN department that is led by an experienced SENCO who is part of the SLT. The SEN department was specifically highlighted in their Ofsted as playing a big part in the smooth running of the school.
