Service Operations Manager ? Software and Data Services ? Birmingham - £55-65K

The Opportunity:

I am shortlisting for a Service Operations Manager, delivering a 24/7 information service to the UK public. You will be responsible for team management (including developers and analysts), budget management, client management and performance of the delivery of the service.

Required Skills, Education and Competences:

  • Management experience in a Service or Technical environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of enterprise technology stacks (hardware and software), confident at dealing with technology issues
  • Have a demonstrable track record in enterprise technology (systems and applications)
  • Strong leadership skills, builds effective working relationships with customers, colleagues and employees
  • Demonstrates understanding of concepts of best practice, LEAN and continual improvement and provides evidence of applying these concepts in a business environment
  • Demonstrates excellent commercial and financial awareness

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for setting targets and objectives for teams, individuals and supply chain and managing performance issues
  • Builds a positive team culture, encourages effective team working and communication, empowers team members, leads by example
  • Accountable for the quality and timeliness of the operational service, introducing and delivering against contract requirements, best practice, seeking continual improvement and maximising the available resources to enhance reputation of service
  • Accountable for the stability and functionality of the systems, managing routine system maintenance tasks, system upgrades, providing IT leadership for the business and to the IT support team
  • Accountable for resolving system issues in a professional and timely fashion, liaising with third parties as necessary and ensuring frequent communication with the Customer and the Service Delivery Manager
  • Develops and maintains an excellent relationship with the customer, balancing the demands of the customer with the requirements of the contract and the available resources
  • Actively monitors performance against the operational KPIs, intervenes to resolve issues before performance drops below target levels thereby minimising operational service credits
