SEN Teacher Secondary ASD/SLD Key Stage 3 Maternity Cover Good/Outstanding London Borough of Barnet Long Term Contract January Start We are currently looking for an experienced and qualified teacher to join this good/outstanding SEN School in Barnet. The school caters for students aged 11-19 with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). In addition, some students at this school may exhibit challenging behaviour, sensory impairments or physical disabilities. This SEN School boasts a number of specialist facilities on site including a multi-sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, soft play room, gym and playground. Situated only a short walk from the underground station and a number of bus stops making it easily accessible by public transport. As an SEN Teacher, you would be planning and delivering lessons, differentiated to meet the individual needs of the children. The curriculum you would be delivering is aimed to provide an inclusive, supportive and challenging environment for the children and encourage them to actively participate in their learning. You would be teaching a range of subjects including numeracy, literacy, ICT, PSHE and PE at P levels 3-8. Class sizes are small (up to 7 students) and you would be assisted by at least 2/3 SEN teaching assistants. Due to the needs of the children, this SEN school is looking for someone with experience in working with children with similar needs. Experience in planning differentiated lessons and marking students work is essential. Each child has an individual learning plan you would be expected to write, monitor and discuss with therapists, parents and senior leadership. This SEN school trains all staff in Team Teach in order to manage behaviour and a number of communication aids including PECS and Makaton.
