Welding Engineer - Redditch - £30,000 - £35,000 - Knowledge of Robot Welding Processes Needed!

Due to internal promotion my client is seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to join their rapidly growing and innovative team based in Redditch. I this position you will be responsible for evaluating existing welding processes and analysing new ways to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process using SMED and related Lean activities.

Due to internal promotion my client is seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to join their rapidly growing and innovative team based in Redditch. I this position you will be responsible for evaluating existing welding processes and analysing new ways to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process using SMED and related Lean activities.

THE ROLE:

  • Evaluate, develop and improve all welding processes and procedures in manufacturing systems.
  • Develop TPM schedules to maintain equipment reliability.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiency, yields, costs and changeovers through the employment of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Develop innovative solutions, evaluating new developments in the welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes.
  • Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
  • Prepare samples for study, record, and present data to all levels of management.
  • Develop and implement systems that optimise all phases of the welding production process.
  • Work as part of a team to identify root causes and advise on corrective actions.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must have proficient knowledge and understanding of both Mig and resistance welding solutions.
  • You will also have the ability to program from base robots (preferably ABB and Motoman robots).
  • You will have proven problem solving techniques 8D, 5 WHY etc as well as having experience in SMED activities, PFMEA / machine FMEA and Root cause analysis.
  • The ideal candidate will also have a thorough understanding in the application of business systems / processes TS16949 and ISO 14001 and will have a strong background in the automotive industry, although this is not essential.
  • You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, have a high level of numerical and analytical ability.


THE PACKAGE:
Salary - £30,000 - £35,000
Monday to Thursday: 0800 - 1630 hours & Friday: 0800 - 1240 hours
